BUFFALO, NY (September 13, 2013): YWCA of WNY Inc. (YWCA) announces the coordination of an exhibit in conjunction with Evangola State Park. Evangola State Park is the former site of YWCA Camp Forty Acres. YWCA and Evangola State Park are planning to install an exhibit at the park commemorating the camp’s history as a YWCA camp.

Many of the structures from Camp Forty Acres days are still in place at the park. In an effort to preserve the memories and history of the camp, before more are lost, Evangola State Park is partnering with YWCA to showcase the restored structures, archival material and the park itself.

YWCA is currently seeking anyone who was involved with Camp Forty Acres to contact the organization. YWCA is looking for people, pictures, videos, and stories that the public may have from their days or relative’s days at Camp Forty Acres (now known as Evangola State Park). The organization has many pieces in their archives, but would like to add to this permanent installation by utilizing resources brought by past campers and participants. Digital copies of materials that cannot be donated can be made and the originals returned. Video and audio stories of former campers will be taken.
